In 2014, Slaight Music and The JUNO Awards teamed up to create a premier artist development program in Canada: The Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class.
The Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class program served as a bridge between two key pillars of The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS); Educate through our music education charity, MusiCounts, and Celebrate through the annual JUNO Awards. This program opened the JUNO door to emerging artists so they could gain exclusive access to tools that prepared them for the next step in their careers.
As part of the program:
- Artists’ music was reviewed by JUNO Award-winning artists, producers, and music industry professionals.
- Industry leaders and artists took part as mentors.
- Three artists and/or groups were selected to participate in The Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class developed in partnership with Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI).
- Following Mentorship Week, one artist was selected to participate in Canada’s celebration of music during the JUNO Awards.
This program served as the foundation for emerging artists who aspired to be JUNO Award nominees and winners in the years to come.
